Home Theatre Decor

Most consumers haven’t made the transition to home theatre. Yet. But you’ll need to think about where to put it as soon as you decide to buy one.

Using your space efficiently will also depend on what decor you intend to use with it. There are only so many places to put a large entertainment system like a home theatre.

You don’t want to have to completely revam the room you intend to use, but you might want to add some spice to the area after you’ve got it installed.

You may want to leave your living room the way it is, or you may decide to make the home theatre a featured furnishing with all the accoutrements associated with it.

There are an unlimited number of possibilities for decor and design once you’ve decided where to put it.

The Living Room

For a typical living room, you’ll probably want to keep the styling you used when you furnished the room originally. You can add specialty lighting, ceiling lights that compliment the theatre, indoor plants and such to improve the look of your living room.

You’ll also find that speakers can be hidden or at least camoulflaged with articles and plants that will go with your existing living area. Paintings with a movie motif and movie posters can add some flavor to the room without disrupting the look of the room.

Den or Basement

If you’ve got a den or basement for your home theatre, you may want to start from scratch designing a home theatre area in your home. Turn the area into another world separate from the rest of your home with specialized decor that emphasizes the movie-going experience.

Glowing stars on the ceiling, aisle lights, styled seating and such will give the room a look that won’t interfere with the design of the rest of your home. Traditional or contemporary homes don’t have to stay that way if you decide to make your home theatre room it’s own in the den or basement.

If you do, enjoy the freedom of making it a unique space that emphasizes the theatre motif and design. Memorabilia, posters, paintings and of course, pictures of your favorite stars will make it a pleasing, comfortable environment for your viewing enjoyment.

If you have the luxury of not using the room for another purpose, focus on the furnishings and decor that will make it the perfect home entertainment center.

With separate space for the project, your options and ideas are only limited by your imagination. Your taste will guide you to the specialty stores and shops that can add the style to the room if your creativity is allowed to roam.

If you do separate your home theatre from the rest of the house, keep the office and business items where they are. Cluttering your home theatre will only subtract from the ambience you’re trying to achieve.
