Get comfortable: enjoy the show

Comfort in home theater seating is important to enjoying your home theatre experience. No one wants to spend a lot of money on a home theater to wind up sitting on a bar stool. Select seating that suits the room and adds to your comfort.

You won’t regret it. Premium products may not be in the budget, but make sure your furnishings are suitable for the experience of watching your movies on your new home theater.

The range of possibilities is vast and eclectic. Consumers today have choices in design and style that were unheard of when movie theaters were dominating the movie-viewing market.

Personal taste is always a primary factor, but you should have no difficulty finding a perfect match in today’s home furnishing market that will insure you enjoy the rest of your home theater for years to come. Stop by any furniture store and you’ll be met with choices and ideas that should make the decision easy.

Look at the materials, fabrics, styling and other factors like leather or microfiber. If you’re going to be sitting for a lengthy movie, try out several chairs, keeping in mind comfort and support for your back and legs.

The choices are almost limitless, more than the movies you’ll be choosing to watch on your home theatre system. If you expect a lot of wear and tear, go with the durable products. If you expect to have to do a lot of cleanup after your viewing (kids for instance) go with a material that is easy to clean.

Portability and storage may come into play if you have limited space.

The variety you’ll find includes loveseats, sofas, sectionals and recliners. If you’re only concerned with a few people, recliners may be a good choice.

There are recliners today that can accomodate three people in a line with the push-button convenience. You’ll spend some money, but it’s a nice feature for the buyer that wants the ultimate in home theatre furnishings.

Manual recliners are also relatively inexpensive, and offer comfort and styling to go with the experience.

If you’re seating more than a few, you may already have a sofa that will suffice, but you’ll want to look at the arrangement and think about how the sights and sounds will translate across the breadth of the sofa.

Recliners weren’t invented for the home theatre, but they could have been. If you shop around you might find that they aren’t as expensive as you thought, compared to the cost of other chairs that don’t offer the capability.

End tables and other accessories should fill out the seating arrangement to your satisfaction, which can only enhance your viewing experience.
